Your transition timeline
Here's a look back at the key dates of your transition.
Welcome package mailed
The week of October 10, we mailed your welcome package with all the details you needed, including key things to know and do for the transition of your bank accounts to First Citizens. Please save this information in case you need it during your transition.
New debit card
If you had a CIT Bank debit card, we sent you a First Citizens Visa® Debit Card in the mail. We also sent you a new PIN in a separate mailing.
Online banking platform email
We sent you an email letting you know which online banking platform you moved to at First Citizens.
If you transitioned to Commercial Advantage, your email includes information about other Treasury Management products and services, as well as actionable items and helpful resources to ensure a smooth transition.
If you transitioned to Digital Banking for business, your email includes helpful resources to ensure a smooth transition. You also received a digital banking transition letter in the mail the week of October 31 with additional information.
Digital banking transition letter
The week of October 31, we mailed you a letter with the details about your new Digital Banking for business or Commercial Advantage account, including your new login ID and instructions for setting up a new password at First Citizens.
CIT Bank access ended
Start using your First Citizens Visa® Business Debit Card at 2 pm ET on Thursday, November 10. Your CIT Bank business debit card stopped working at this time.
Online access to CIT Bank ended at 9 pm ET Thursday, November 10. Be sure to copy any templates, alerts, transfer instructions and file definitions, which won't transfer from your CIT system to First Citizens.
Conversion weekend
Unless otherwise notified, CIT Bank branches closed at 2 pm local time on Thursday, November 10, in observance of Veterans Day on Friday, November 11, and remained closed until they reopened as First Citizens branches on Monday, November 14. During this time, online and mobile banking were temporarily unavailable.
Transition completed
Your accounts and services became available the morning of Monday, November 14. Online and mobile access also became available at 7 am ET.
You can now use the First Citizens network of more than 550 branches in 21 states.

The information below relates only to accounts that transitioned to Digital Banking for business at First Citizens unless otherwise noted. In early October, we had an Action Item Checklist for Digital Banking for business and Commercial Advantage® customers to help ensure a smooth transition.

Automatic Payments |
If you've arranged for third parties to deduct payments from your account—like electric or phone companies—provide these payees with your new account number(s) and routing number as soon as possible after November 14. |
Automated Transfers |
Any automatic transfers you've set up through CIT Bank online banking didn't convert, and you'll need to set them up within First Citizens Digital Banking beginning November 14. |
Direct Deposits |
You may need to notify third parties that make direct deposits to your account, such as your employer or government agencies sending Social Security or VA benefits. Please note that certain companies won't automatically make account number changes without obtaining your authorization. |
Check Orders and Deposit Tickets |
You can continue using your current checks. Any outstanding checks with your CIT Bank account number will continue to be honored for 180 days from November 14. Deposit tickets preprinted with your CIT Bank account number will no longer be accepted after November 14. You'll receive a $75 discount on your first order of First Citizens business checks with endorsement stamp and deposit tickets. Any time on or after November 14, call 800-503-2345 from 7 am to 10 pm ET Monday through Friday or from 7 am to 7 pm ET Saturday. Provide your First Citizens account number and routing number and mention offer code L2. You can also order checks at your nearest branch. |
Debit Cards |
CIT Bank debit cardholders should have received a new First Citizens Visa® Business Debit Card. Under separate cover, in an unmarked envelope, we also sent you a new PIN. Your CIT Bank card stopped working at 2 pm ET on Thursday, November 10, which is when your new First Citizens card became available for use. Be sure to provide your new card number and expiration date to any merchants you've authorized to debit your card for payments. |
ATM Transaction Fees |
You can use First Citizens ATMs to get cash, make deposits (where available), transfer funds and more—with no fee. First Citizens doesn't charge a fee for using non-First Citizens ATMs for cash withdrawals, funds transfers or balance inquiries. |
Online Banking |
If you enrolled on or before Friday, September 2, you gained access to First Citizens Digital Banking for businessD on Monday, November 14. CIT Bank online banking users received a separate mailing with more details and new login information. |
Quicken® and QuickBooks® |

Statements |
You'll receive a final CIT statement for your checking, savings or money market accounts as of Thursday, November 10. Monthly fees, if any, won't be charged on partial statements. Checking account statements won't contain check images. Checking and CD statements will no longer be combined. Stand-alone savings account statements will be issued quarterly, and CD statements will no longer be offered. Duplicate statements can no longer be sent to alternate addresses. You can view statements online and select eStatements online starting Monday, November 14. |
Transaction History |
Starting Monday, November 14, we'll begin to retain transaction history for your new First Citizens products. After Monday, November 14, prior deposit account history will be available upon written request only. A fee may apply. |
Overdraft Protection |
First Citizens offers basic overdraft protection for business checking accounts. Please see the Account Disclosures booklet in your welcome package for additional information on overdraft protection. |
Branch Availability |
Unless otherwise notified, all CIT Bank branches closed at 2 pm local time on Thursday, November 10, and reopened as First Citizens branches on Monday, November 14. Hours for the branch lobby will be from 9 am to 5 pm local time Monday through Friday. |
Telephone Banking |
Starting Monday, November 14, you can obtain information about your First Citizens accounts through our automated service 24/7. |
Safe Deposit Box |
There's no change to your safe deposit contract. At the next renewal, we'll notify you if there are any changes to safe deposit fees. |
Loans and Lines of Credit |
Loans and lines of credit will continue in effect with no changes to terms and conditions. |
