Week of October 10

Welcome package

The week of October 10, we mailed your First Citizens welcome package with all the details you needed—including key things to know and do.

Week of October 24

New debit card

If you have a CIT Bank debit card, we sent you a First Citizens Visa® Debit Card in the mail the week of October 24. We also sent you a new PIN in a separate mailing.

Thursday, November 10

CIT Bank access ended

Start using your First Citizens Visa® Debit Card at 2 pm ET on Thursday, November 10. Your CIT Bank debit card stopped working at this time.

Online access to CIT Bank ended the evening of Thursday, November 10.

Thursday, November 10 to Monday, November 14

Conversion weekend

CIT Bank branches closed at 2 pm local time on Thursday, November 10, in observance of Veterans Day on Friday, November 11, and remained closed until they reopened as First Citizens branches on Monday, November 14. During this time, online and mobile banking were temporarily unavailable.

Monday, November 14

Transition completed

Your accounts and services became First Citizens accounts on Monday, November 14. Online and mobile access became available at 7 am ET on Monday, November 14.

You can now use the First Citizens network of more than 550 branches in 21 states.

People often ask us

To keep things simple for you, we selected the First Citizens accounts most similar to your CIT Bank accounts. If you like the choices we made, you don't need to do a thing. If you think other choices may suit you better, just speak with your CIT Bank banker on or before November 10, 2022, or your First Citizens banker on or after November 14.

Yes. Your credit relationships will transfer to First Citizens, including consumer loans and lines of credit. We'll notify you of any details you need to know. In the meantime, continue to make payments as you do today. Your payment amounts won't change. Your payment addresses and account numbers will change. When they do, they'll be reflected on your statements.

CIT Bank online banking customers who enrolled in online banking on or before September 2, 2022, were automatically converted to First Citizens Digital Banking on November 14. You received a mail package from us with all the necessary details, including your new login instructions for First Citizens Digital Banking at FirstCitizens.com. We arranged for the automatic transfer of your bill pay payees, but it's important to note that your CIT Bank account history may not have transferred automatically.

CIT Bank online banking customers who enrolled in online banking on or after September 3 weren't automatically converted to online banking at First Citizens Digital Banking. You need to enroll in First Citizens Digital Banking beginning November 14.

CIT Bank online banking customers who enrolled in online banking on or before September 2, 2022, were automatically converted to First Citizens online banking on November 14. You received a mail package from us with all the necessary details, including your new login instructions for online banking at FirstCitizens.com. We arranged for the automatic transfer of your bill pay payees, but it's important to note that your CIT Bank account history may not have transferred automatically.

Beginning November 14, please contact your existing Relationship Manager for more information about enrolling in commercial online banking.

If you had accounts at both banks as of January 4, 2022, FDIC coverage of your deposits remained separate through July 4, 2022. It’s possible that FDIC coverage of your CDs will remain even longer, depending on the maturity date. If you have questions about your FDIC insurance, call the FDIC at 877-ASK-FDIC, or refer to the FDIC website for additional details.
