First Citizens Bank
Forever First

HomeBanc Customers,

Now that HomeBanc is a division of First Citizens Bank, we look forward to getting to know and serving your financial needs. In the days to come, you'll have access to new products, technology and services, and a large network of locations, ATMs and associates to serve you. But many of the things that matter most won't change, like the personal touch we bring to all our customers and the care we take with your money. We think you'll like it here.

Sincerely,

Frank B. Holding Jr.

Frequently Asked Questions

How will my bank accounts be affected?

How will this affect the office locations I use?

There will be no immediate changes and you should continue banking at your usual office location. However, we're committed to providing our customers with the best services possible, which means we will always be on the lookout for ways to improve the availability of and access to our banking services.

What will happen to my direct deposits?

Your direct deposits will continue as usual, including Social Security payments. If you need to change anything in the future, please contact or visit your HomeBanc office location to make those arrangements.

Can I continue to use my existing checks and debit, ATM and credit cards?

Yes, you may keep using your existing HomeBanc checks and cards. Once the conversion process is complete, you will receive a new debit card and checks featuring the First Citizens name.

Can I still access my accounts online? Where?

Will my automatic loan payment still occur on its assigned date?

How and where do I make my loan payments?

You should continue to make your loan payments as agreed. You may continue to make your payments at the HomeBanc offices or through online banking.

Is my deposit insured by the FDIC?

Yes. Your deposit with our HomeBanc division is insured by the FDIC, and each depositor is insured to at least $250,000, as established by law.

What happens to my deposit insurance coverage if I have deposits at both First Citizens Bank and HomeBanc?

There are special provisions that allow a depositor to receive insurance at both institutions for a period of time.

According to the FDIC publication, "Your Insured Deposits:"

https://www.fdic.gov/deposit/deposits/brochures/your-insured-deposits-english.html

"When two or more insured banks merge, deposits from the assumed bank are separately insured from deposits at the assuming bank for at least six months after the merger. This grace period gives a depositor the opportunity to restructure his or her accounts, if necessary."

"CDs from the assumed bank are separately insured until the earliest maturity date after the end of the six-month grace period. CDs that mature during the six-month period and are renewed for the same term and in the same dollar amount (either with or without accrued interest) continue to be separately insured until the first maturity date after the six-month period. If a CD matures during the six-month grace period and is renewed on any other basis, it would be separately insured only until the end of the six-month grace period."
