Overdraft Protection

Savings

Now you can have peace of mind with an automatic withdrawal of funds from a linked First Citizens savings account whenever you have insufficient funds in your First Citizens checking account.

  • There is no charge to link to your savings account
  • Funds are advanced to your checking account in increments of $100.
  • You can review your overdraft transactions through First Citizens Personal Online Banking.

Checkline Reserve®

In case of an emergency or accidental overdraft, Checkline Reserve can be a lifesaver. Just write a check and write yourself a loan—anytime, anywhere.

  • Get an automatic line of credit built right into your checking account to cover overdrafts.
  • Use your own checks or make a loan directly from your reserve account with special Checkline Reserve checks.
  • There is no charge to establish a Checkline Reserve—finance charges only accrue when you use it.
  • Funds are advanced to your checking account in increments of $100.

Checkline Reserve Plus*

This has all the advantages of Checkline Reserve, plus larger lines of credit are available at lower interest rates. The variable interest rate you pay is based on the amount of credit line approved and is tied to First Citizens' prime rate.

Line of Credit and Savings

And for extra protection, you can link your checking account to both a savings account and line of credit - you simply need to specify which account should be accessed first. We will exhaust your first overdraft protection option before accessing the second linked option.

Note: There is no cost to set up overdraft protection. Transfer and other fees may apply if you use this service. See your account agreements for further information.

Normal credit approval applies on all checking accounts, loans, lines of credit and credit cards.
* The prime rate used to determine your APR is the First Citizens Bank prime rate on the last business day of the previous calendar month.
