Online Banking Secure Sign-In Quick Reference Guide

First Citizens Bank is committed to providing comprehensive online banking with state-of-the-art security. Our new Secure Sign-In process is one more way we’re working to protect your personal financial information.

Secure Sign-In Registration

Before you can take advantage of the new Secure Sign-In feature, you’ll need to register. The one-time registration takes a few simple steps:

Step 1: Enter your Customer ID.

The initial screen in the registration process will ask for your Customer ID. If this is the first time you're using Online Banking, your Customer ID is the card number you used when you signed up. If you have already changed your Customer ID, be sure and use the new one. After you complete the sign-in process, you should change your Customer ID to something that’s easy to remember. Click the Sign In button to continue. Enlarge Image

Step 2: Enter your password and click Enroll Now to continue Secure Sign-In registration.

After you enter your Customer ID, you will need to enter your password to proceed with Secure Sign-In registration. The Welcome E-mail sent when you signed up for Personal Online Services with Bill Pay gave instructions for your first-time password. If this isn’t your first time using Online Banking, enter the password you previously created for your own use.Enlarge Image

Step 3: Choose three challenge questions and a secret phrase to continue the Secure Sign-In enrollment process.

The challenge questions and answers you provide will help confirm your ID if you’re using an unregistered computer. We’ll show you the secret phrase during the sign-in procedure — that way you’ll know we recognize you when you sign in.

Step 4: Decide if you want us to remember the computer you’re using when you sign in.

If you register your computer, you’re telling us that you use this machine often, and we will recognize you when you sign in from this computer. If you sign in from an unregistered computer, we’ll ask you a challenge question in addition to your Customer ID and password. You should never register a public computer.

Step 5: Pick a secret picture that will always let you know you’re at our secure site.

You can choose from a picture category or from all categories. Use the Next button to display sets of pictures. When you see a picture you want to use, click the image (it should appear outlined) then click Continue.Enlarge Image

Step 6: Confirm your information.

This is the last step in Secure Sign-In registration. If you want to change anything, use the Back button. If everything is as you like it, click the Confirm button.

When you click Confirm you will begin your online banking session.

If this is your first time using Online Banking, you’ll need to accept the Online Banking Agreement and then change your Customer ID and Password before you start.

Signing In After You’ve Registered

Once you’ve registered in Secure Sign-In, you may conduct your online banking session from either an unregistered or registered computer.

On an unregistered computer: After you enter your Customer ID, you must properly answer one of your challenge questions and click Continue. If you have correctly answered your challenge question, the confirmation page is displayed.Enlarge Image
