First Citizens Bank Offers Internet CDs

RALEIGH, N.C. - First Citizens Bank introduced three new CD products Friday that are available exclusively through its firstcitizens.com web site.

The bank's new 5-, 11-, and 23-month CDs, which currently offer higher yields than similar CDs purchased through traditional channels, will be offered only through firstcitizens.com. Rates are available online at the web site.

"Our online CDs offer retail customers the opportunity to invest in a great savings product through the convenience of their personal computers," said Jeff Ward, manager of FC Direct. "First Citizens has a reputation for providing outstanding customer service, and our focus with firstcitizens.com is to extend that excellent service to Internet users."

To invest in the new online CDs, go to firstcitizens.com and complete the online CD application. The bank will mail a signature card to the customer, who can return the signature card with the deposit in a postage-paid envelope. The new online CDs are available in First Citizens' service areas of North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.

Visitors to firstcitizens.com can also get quick home and auto insurance quotes, apply for a credit card and order a copy of their credit report. First Citizens customers can sign up for firstcitizens.com online banking, which allows them to access account information, apply for certain credit products, view credit card details and schedule electronic bill payments. Customers can also transfer funds, place stop payments, request a check or statement copy and even order checks. First Citizens will continue to expand its online services for retail and business customers.
